The Muktangan Rehabilitation Center is an established centre in Pune. It was started in 1986 by Dr. Anita Awachat, a woman who had a desire for an addiction free society. Although Muktangan has been around from some time they are constantly improving on their methods and offering new services. They recently opened a women's ward that is designed for women patients and is staffed only by women. This centre is a leader in India, producing its own magazine and providing other deaddiction literature.
